Primer Overview

In this world Pokegirls have always existed right alongside humanity. They evolved along separate pathways, one choosing personal evolution as a way to meet and conquer environmental changes. The other chose to change their environment to suit their needs. Great nations have risen and fallen throughout the ages, and recently new regional powers have arisen. Travel by traditional means is extremely dangerous due to the nature of feral, or wild, Pokegirls. Oceanic travel via international waters is all but impossible due to the massive monstrosities of the deep. Air travel must be performed via relatively silent sub-sonic means due to the numerous powerful aerial monsters and Pokegirls who are drawn to loud noises. 

Pokegirls are not truly human physically despite their appearances. They are actually classed as an elemental being as they are capable of utilizing powers far outside the scope of most normal human beings. While some humans are capable of mimicking these powers in some ways through the art of magic, most are only able to hold their own through high-end technology and magical technology items.

The world is filled with small communities who band together in mutual defense, but there are a few large cities. True nations are rare and despite modern technology these areas often work under a modified feudal system due to the needs of the time. A few areas espouse the concepts of Pokegirl rights and treat them as normal human beings, albeit with safety measures taken. However, in most parts of the world Pokegirls are often considered property and are highly controlled out of fear. In Marika, one of the largest remaining nation states comprised of the Southeastern region of the former United States of America Pokegirls are classed into two different groups, wild and urban. 

Wild Pokegirls are various individuals who felt the call of the wild and a desire to live separate from humanity. They exist in wilderness areas in small family groups. Occasionally they challenge traveling humans to battle. The tradition is "To the victor go the spoils". If the human and his entourage are defeated they have to serve as a designated 'husband' for the year. Typically, any captured human beings are released at the end of one year. Should the human prove strong enough to defeat the Pokegirl she will submit to their will for one year instead. At the end of the year the two have to decide whether they may continue this relationship, via another battle or mutual agreement. However, should they decide to part ways they can do so legally through two distinct methods. The first is safe release at a law enforcement establishment. The Pokegirl will be escorted back to her home of origin by either her former master or released ten miles outside of town after processing out of the country. The second is agreed sale of contract to another human or business enterprise. If the Pokegirl does not wish to stay with her current master, she can agree to serve a new one.

The urban Pokegirl will utilize a more straightforward manner of finding an appropriate master. She will hire her services out to an interested human or corporate entity. Contracts last between one to four years and call for the Pokegirl to serve her master in any way they desire short of listed offenses that are used as a defense against abuse. While a master can order their Pokegirl into a life or death situation if they are a trained combatant, or a combat type, it is considered abuse to force a non-combatant to fight outside of sheer survival. Duels are not to be forced upon non-combatants, but survival scenarios may require all hands available to survive. A non-combatant who wishes to fight may do so, but they have to sign a waiver during their contract period. Signing this waiver constitutes removal of the Protection of Non-Combatant Status act of 2014.  

Pokegirls and their potential human masters join together in common cause and mutual defense. While the typical Pokegirl is a power unto herself, her powers are limited by her type and alignment. Working together they can make lives for themselves in the wild, but it is incredibly dangerous due to the monsters that roam the countryside. Some monsters can wipe out entire human and Pokegirl communities at a time. 

Humans and Pokegirls can join together and cause a wondrous effect to happen. While separately they have their own unique strengths and weaknesses, together they form a bond that causes both to grow stronger. Human beings who bond with Pokegirls gain a little more psychic energy, while Pokegirls begin building their own unique elemental force powers to a higher degree. Eventually the bond may grow strong enough for the awakening of a new, higher form. These higher forms, known as evolution, cause the Pokegirl to become much stronger most of the time. This is one of two primary reasons that Pokegirls bond with humans. They can become stronger through this bond. The second reason is that once they bond with a human there is a chance that they can bear children.
